This city is located in the North Texas region and is the core of the largest metropolitan area in the Southern United States and the largest inland metropolitan area in the U.S. that is not connected to the sea.

     Dallas and Fort Worth were initially developed thanks to the construction of major railroad lines in the area, which allowed access to cotton, cattle, and later oil in North and East Texas. This was reinforced by the construction of the Interstate Highway System, which saw four major interstate highways converge in the city and a fifth interstate loop around it. As a result, Dallas emerged as a strong industrial and financial center and a major inland port. To further solidify its status, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport was constructed – one of the largest and busiest airports in the world.
